DVD Media for DVD Camcorders - Buyer's Guide
Today there are a several video cameras available that use DVDs. These DVDs are all small 8cm diameter discs.
This Buyer's Guide provides information as to which media fits which camcorder. While this information is thought to be correct, there is a continual process of new models being released and new versions of the same model becoming available. We strongly suggest you try out a particular disc before ordering larger quantities.
In summary camcorders use a write once disc (R) and another that can be recorded, erased and re-recorded (RW). The media type can be different depending on the manufacturer, and model.

Hitachi models DZ-MV200A, DZ-MV230A, DZ-MV200, DZ-MV230 use square caddies on DVD-R and DVD-RAM.
Hitachi models DZ-MV350, DZ-MV380, DZ-MV550, DZ-MV580A use the round caddy in DVD-R and DVD-RAM
Sony models DCR-DVD100, DCR-DVD101E, DCR-DVD200, DCR-DVD200E, DCR-DVD201, DCR-DVD300 use bare discs (no caddies or cartridges) for their DVD-R and DVD-RW discs.
Panasonic Models VDR-M20, VDR-M30, VDR-M30B, VDR-M50 and VDR-M70 use round caddies for DVD-R and DVD-RAM.

Guide for Video Camera DVDs:
Hitachi DVD-Camcorders (DZMV350A and DZMV380A) utilize a round disc
holder to accommodate the smaller design of the newer models. All
previous generation DVD-Camcorders use a square cartridge. The actual
discs are the same and can be used in all models as long as the
disc is placed in the appropriate holder or cartridge.
The Panasonic DVD-Camcorders have round caddies
The Sony DVD-Camcorders do not use caddies

2. The Goodies 80mm disc can be used in some Hitachi and Panasonic
models. At this time we are aware of some cameras where they work,
however we are aware that some cameras do not record reliably with
