Q: Does the DaVinci come with any ink?
A:Yes - the continuous inking system is already pre-loaded with approximately 90ml
of each ink
Q: How many discs can I print per tank refill?
A:This is dependent on lots of factors, however as a guide you can expect to be
able to print about 10,000 discs per refill.
Q: Can I purchase bulk ink from other sources?
A:We strongly suggest that you don't go to extreme in buying ink of unknown quality.
This is because you would want to be confident that the ink will not clog your print
heads and reduce the quality of printing or require an expensive print head change.
Secondly you need to be confident that each bottle of ink is the same colour as
the previous ink, so you can be assured that repeat print jobs look exactly the
same!!
Be safe, only specify DaVinci ink!
Q: How can I get the maximum disc throughput?
A:If you have a second tray, you can have one tray ready to go, take the completed
printed tray out, insert the new one... This minimises the time the printer is waiting
and so you get more printing.
The printer is smart, where there are horizontal bands where there is nothing to
print, the printer moves on, saving time.
Q:Can I use any inkjet printable discs?
A: In essence yes, but be aware that the printable material varies between brands
and of course the quality and longevity of the data recording may also be variable.
As a guide, stay with the well known quality brands. We use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden
and Ritek media.
Q: Do I have to wait to allow discs printing to dry?
A: Good quality inkjet printable discs should dry immediately. This means that they
would not require any special handling after printing.
It is important to note that if you print off the inkjet printable area, then the
ink will take many hours to dry and will be subject to smearing as well as transfer
to other surfaces.
Q: How many discs could I print per hour?
A: As a guide it takes about 2 minutes 45 seconds to print a tray using photo quality
printing. This translates to about 120 discs per hour. Actual disc output will vary
depending on lots of factors including speed of your computer and whether you are
printing on the whole face etc.
Q: With a tray that takes 6 discs, can I print less than 6 at a time?
A: Yes. You can select any number between 1 and 6!
Q: With a tray that takes 6 discs can I print 6 different discs?
A: Yes. You can have any combination of images. This is really helpful if you just
want to print say one set of up to 6 disc faces.
Q: Can I share the DiVinic 6-6 over a network?
A: Yes. The DaVinci 6-6 acts like any other ordinary printer. This means that you
can prepare artwork and print from one or more computers on the LAN.
Q: How much space does the DaVinci need?
A: The printer's footprint is 750mm deep and 1000mm wide. You will need some additional
space for tray overhang so allow for a minimum of 1200mm width.
Q:What warranty is included?
A: 12 months limited return to base.
Note you need to keep the shipping carton from your printer so, if you
need to ship it you can safely do so!!
