DVD+R
DVD+R (said DVD plus R)
Record Once - This would be the second most popular format. It was originally designed to be more DVD player friendly - For the most part today, most computer based DVD burners work with both DVD+R and the more common DVD-R formats. Whilst most DVD player will play this disc type, some computer based DVD ROMs may have problems reading them.
As a rule this kind of disc will burn at either 2.4, 4 or 8 times speed, where as one times implies that it would take 2 hours to burn a disc completely (at 4.7GB disc capacity). The newest kind of DVD+R is known as a dual layer (DL) disc which has a capacity of 8.5 GB per side, allowing for between 3 to 4 hours of standard video recording capacity.
